Barnes' garden eel
The Barnes' garden eel〔(Common names for ''Gorgasia barnesi'' ) at www.fishbase.org.〕 (''Gorgasia barnesi'') is an eel in the family Congridae (conger/garden eels).〔(''Gorgasia barnesi'' ) at www.fishbase.org.〕 It was described by Bruce H. Robison and Thomas M. Lancraft in 1984.〔Robison, B. H. and T. M. Lancraft, 1984 (1 May) (6812 ) ''Gorgasia barnesi (Congridae: Heterocongrinae), a new garden eel from the Banda Sea.'' Copeia 1984 (no. 2): 404-409.〕 It is a marine, tropical eel which is known from the western Pacific Ocean, including Indonesia, the Philippines, Vanuatu, the Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea. It dwells at a depth range of , and inhabits sand substrates. Males can reach a maximum total length of .〔
The species epithet "''barnesi''" refers to Anthony T. Barnes.〔
